• Imagine, design, implement and operate compounds, products and materials to specific properties and physical, chemical and biochemical solutions/processes leading to obtaining these materials by integrating needs, contexts and issues (technical, economic, societal, ethical, safety and environmental).
• Identify complex problems to be solved and formulate the specifications by integrating client needs, contexts and issues (technical, economic, societal, ethical and environmental).
• Implement a chosen solution/product in the form of a drawing, a schema, a plan, a model, a prototype, software and/or digital model.
• Evaluate the approach and results for their adaptation (optimisation, quality, environment, safety/security).
• Mobilise a structured set of scientific knowledge and skills and specialised techniques in order to carry out missions of chemical engineering and materials science, using their expertise and adaptability.

Learning Outcomes of UE

Examine a product and determine how it has been manufactured;
Select an appropriate manufacturing process;
Take into account manufacturing constraints (cost, quality, schedule) when designing a product; understand the role of materials in Manufacturing processes and the effect of processes on the mechanical properties of manufactured parts;
Understand the importance of manufacturing.
Know the specifics of plastics and thermoset composites.
Select an appropriate manufacturing process for plastics or composites according to specifications.
Analyze the advantages and disadvantages associated with additive manufacturing. 
Understand the role of materials in manufacturing processes and the effect of processes on the mechanical properties of manufactured parts.

The course gives an overview of manufacturing processes of mechanical products in metals, plastics and composite, as well as additive manufacturing, and introduces the language of manufacturing.
The course is given by academics who conduct research in the field of manufacturing technology and, in the same time, maintain close links with industrial companies, providing education to the forefront of technological and industrial requirements.
