Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
•Demonstrate expertise and versatility in sciences and technology •Adopt an applied scientific approach •Innovate •Implement solutions •Be a responsible person, in step with the stakes of society
Content of UE
Understand electrical energy production, transport and distribution (Smart Grids) problems in the frame of today electricity market, massive development of renewable energies and problems related to decentralized electrical energy injection in the national network; Analyse and compare different generation technologies of "clean" energy and give objective conclusions about prices/performances and exploitation limits; Know the different steps of electricity generation based on nuclear energy and be aware of the rational use of energy; Be able to understand the theoretical basics of pumps and turbines.
Prior Experience
Fundings of electricity and thermondynamics + "electrical machines and networks & power electronics"
Type of Assessment for UE in Q1
Q1 UE Assessment Comments
Project: 2 parts: 1) simulation exercise on PC about the modeling of a "variable speed" Wind power generator & 2) reproduction of the main results of a scientific paper related to up-to-date topics in the field of electrical power systems. Written examination: theory and thinking questions, max. 4 hours. Project: 30 % (oral defense before the exam session) Written examination (AA - Energies conventionnelles et d'origine renouvelable: principes et impacts sur l'adéquation d'un parc de production électrique) : 50 % + (AA - Pompes & turbines) : 20 %
Type of Assessment for UE in Q3
Q3 UE Assessment Comments
Written examination: theory and thinking questions, max. 4 hours. Project: 30 % (carryover of Q1 mark) Written examination (AA - Energies conventionnelles et d'origine renouvelable: principes et impacts sur l'adéquation d'un parc de production électrique) : 50 % + (AA - Pompes & turbines) : 20 %
