Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
review the main types of electrical actuators used in mechatronics, with a special attention to the continuous current motors and the stepper motors;
design some commonly used control strategies, ranging from simple ones (on-off and PID) to more advanced ones (RST controller with reference models, optimal and predictive controllers);
select appropriate actuators according to the application specifications, with a view to an efficient control.
Content of UE
General introduction: electrical drives, main characteristics and choice considerations; dynamic modelling of continuous current actuators and stepper motors; classical controllers (on-off and PID); RST controllers; optimal and predictive controllers; exercises and laboratory experiments
