Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
The UE approaches the problematics of natural products, aiming at giving to the future chemist general conceptual competences that will allow him (i) to analyze the structure of new complex molecules to replace them in a context of known structures and biosynthetic patyhways; (ii) to connect the pharmacological structures, activities and the traditional use of the medicinal plants; (iii) to understand the methods of analysis described in the monographs of Pharmacopeias. Seminars of pharmaceutical practice will allow identifying the position of medicinal plants in modern therapy, precising the ratio benefits-risks.
Content of UE
The UE develops strong foundations of phytochemistry, supported by the study of active components biosyntheses; the analytical and pharmacological aspects are also deepened for the natural compounds which do not have an equivalent in traditional drugs. It aims at understanding the position of medicinal plants in modern therapy, taking into account the ratio benefits-risks.
