Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
Characterize particle beds and calculate main physical data concerning fixed beds, fluidized beds and pneumatic or hydraulic transport ; design some important unit operations : settling (gravity and centrifugal), filtration (with cake, deep filtration, absolute filtration) and drying ; understand the main theories for transmembrane transfer ; design microfiltration, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis and electrodyalisis equipments ; understand age-distribution functions in various equipments.
Content of UE
Particle beds ; fixed and fluidized beds ; hydraulic and pneumatic transport ; settling (gravity and centrifugal) ; filtration with cake formation ; deep and absolute filtration ; drying of solids ; membrane operations (microfiltration, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, électrodialysis) ; age-distribution functions in vessels.

Type of Assessment for UE in Q1
Q1 UE Assessment Comments
Reports on laboratory work, 12.5 % of the mark. Written examination including three parts, maximum length : 240 min (1st part, 50 % of the mark, a written examination concerning the theoretical concepts (2 questions) without class notes ; a list of questions is given during the course ; 2nd part, 12.5 % of the mark, written exercise(s) about laboratory work (1 or 2 questions), with class notes and laboratory notes ; 3rd part, 25 % of the mark : two written exercises, with class notes and exercises notes).
Type of Assessment for UE in Q3
Q3 UE Assessment Comments
Idem 1st examination period (carryover of the mark on laboratory work reports).
