Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
1. Developing a more advanced digital architectural culture
2. An advanced knowledge of new styles and modes of architectural expression influenced by digital technology.
3. A mastery of processes and parametric modeling techniques
Content of UE
1. Introduction to the concept of "computational design" 1.
2. Introduction to new digital technologies applied to architectural design and production.
3. Presentation of methods, tools and digital devices capable of supporting the activities of design, production and enhancement of architectural space.
4. Proposing solutions (methodological and technical) to overcome the complexity linked to new forms of architectural expression (non-standard architecture) and the new challenges of architectural design (optimisation of performance).
5. Learning of parametric modeling techniques (Grasshopper + Rhino (logic, uses and parametric modeling technique)
6. Learning of simulation and optimization techniques supported by parametric modeling
7. Learning 3D acquisition techniques (Photogrammetry and Laser Scanning) and Digital Manufacturing (Laser Cutting and 3D Printing).

Type of Assessment for UE in Q1
Q1 UE Assessment Comments
Attendance at tutorials is mandatory with a check at the end of each session. These Tutorials result in a series of interim evaluations (MCQ/Tutorial Report) that form part of the final evaluation of the AA. Failure to attend the tutorial sessions and/or failure to submit the associated assignments will result in a zero rating. Only absences due to force majeure will be taken into account on the basis of a valid receipt to be submitted to the secretariat within 24 hours of the session concerned.
Other than these intermediate evaluations, the final evaluation will consist of the submission of one or more modelling assignments (details given at the beginning of the course) to be presented at the examination session. The final choice of weighting between the different evaluation methods will be specified at the beginning of the course (introductory course) and communicated via its Moodle page.
Type of Assessment for UE in Q3
Q3 UE Assessment Comments
The final choice for the mode of evaluation for Q3 and its weighting will be specified following the communication of the results of the Q1 session and via the Moodle page of the course.
Type of Resit Assessment for UE in Q1 (BAB1)
