Content of Learning Activity
Chap. 1: Energy and society (evolution of the energy consumption and its main drivers)
Chap. 2: Basic notions of micro-economy (offer/demand modeling, notion of market equilibrium, theory of the firm, market imperfections)
Chap. 3: Peculiarities of wholesale energy markets (energy markets general charcteristics, the rent phenomenon, notions of regulation)
Chap. 4: Focus on European electricity markets
Chap. 5: Externalities in energy markets (definitions, mechanisms to internalize externalities, example in the energy sector:green certificates in Wallonia)
Chap. 6: The retail sector. Focus on electricity (electricity bill, emerging mechanisms such as Renewable Energy Communities)
Chap 7: Investment in Energy assets (LCOE, NPV, etc. )
Chap 8: seminars by industrial stakeholders. Upon availabilities:Belgian Transmission System Operator for electricity - ELIA , Belgian Federal regulator - CREG, Waloon Distribution System Operator for electricity and Gaz - ORES, Belgian Transmission System Operator for Gaz - FLUXYS)
