Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Instruct an architectural issue
    • Study the different components of a theme to articulate its findings in a comprehensive summary
    • Build an architectural culture based on theoretical and critical knowledge and personal reading
    • Coordinate the various disciplines related to architecture and urban planning transversely
    • Contextualise their approach to architecture
    • Develop teamwork
    • Plan and organise architecture projects adapted to a context
  • Develop a spatial response
    • Master the means of oral, written and graphic expression
    • Develop a project methodology integrating the various constraints related to the architectural discipline
    • Develop a creative approach from a set of constraints
    • Develop a personal and creative project of architectural composition
  • Implement an identified spatial response
    • Adopt an applied scientific approach
    • Integrate technical dimensions in the project
    • Reconcile the creative and functional dimensions in the project
    • Adapt their structural, technical and formal choices according to the principles and values of project.
  • Interact with all actors
    • Master the different means of expression available to the architect to communicate to informed publics, or not
    • Develop a professional attitude
    • Integrate and work in a team
  • Make choices
    • Demonstrate reflexivity, openness and initiative
    • Demonstrate ethical values

Learning Outcomes of UE

The fundamental objectives are :
-The study of spatiality.
-Discover contemporary architectural culture.
-Learn about the "know-how" of the architecture project.
-Develop ethical work and conceptual autonomy.
-The study of architectural language.
These objectives will be developed through architectural projects around the notion of "living".

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

At the end of this course, students will be able to:
-Initiate the development of an architectural scheme and support it with a choice of analyzed and commented references.
-Analyse and understand the program of a simple architecture project and its context.
-Organise the different functions of a space into a hierarchy.
- Gradually acquire the correspondence between spaces and constructional systems.
-Apply the dimensional requirements of the human body in planning architectural spaces.
- take into account such parameters as: sunlight, the relationship between inside and outside, differences in levels, light, materials,...
-Design a creative personal project that answers the various constraints and requirements outlined above.
-Gradually acquire the standards and the means of graphic architectural representation in 2D-3D and scale models.
-Develop verbal theoretical arguments and justify a project with references
-Be familiar with the language of architecture.
-Be familiar with building and technical aspects while analysing the spatial consequences.
-Start working in groups.

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

Evaluation AA ATELIER Q1: Contributes 30% to the overall grade of the course.
Evaluation AA CONNAISSANCES THEORIQUES Q1: Accounts for 5% of the total course grade.
Evaluation AA ATELIER Q2: Makes up 25% of the course grade.
Evaluation AA JURY Q2: Carries a weight of 40% in the overall assessment.
Now, let’s discuss the success criteria for this course:

The minimum average of the four evaluations (AA ATELIER Q1, AA CONNAISSANCES THEORIQUES Q1, AA ATELIER Q2, and AA JURY Q2) must be at least 50%.
Additionally, the minimum score for AA JURY Q2 should also be 50%.
Finally, you can have at most one AA that is not successful (i.e., a failing grade).
If these conditions are not met, the lowest grade among the AAs in the course will become the final grade for the entire UE

Type(s) and mode(s) of Q1 UE resit assessment (BAB1)

  • Written examination - Face-to-face

Q1 UE Resit Assessment Comments (BAB1)

Only AA THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE Q1 is subject to a make-up assessment.
