Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
- In the field of biological sciences and particularly in the field of the biology of organisms and ecology, possess highly specialised and integrated knowledge and a wide range of skills adding to those covered in the Bachelor's programme in biological sciences.
Learning Outcomes of UE
The comprehension of structure-function relationships in the different organ systems occurring in invertebrate organisms.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Overview and comparison of the microanatomy, histology and ultrastructure of several organ systems in invertebrate animals.
The course comprises the following chapters:
Characteristics of invertebrate epithelia,
Cilia and flagella,
Epidermis and epidermal productions,
Feeding and digestive systems,
Respiratory systems,
Sensory systems (photoreception as an example).
The course is supported by several training sessions consisting in the observation of histological sections with the light microscope.
