Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Master expertise.
    • Have developed the knowledge and skills acquired in the previous cycle to a level that extends beyond the Bachelor's course in Physics, and which provides the basis for the development and implementation of original ideas in a professional context.
  • Provide clear and accurate information.
    • Share their knowledge and findings clearly and back them up rationally to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • Grow personally and professionally.
    • Have developed the skills that will enable them to continue to acquire knowledge independently.

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the present learning module, the student will be able to:
- read and summarize by himself current papers and textbooks in the field of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) or field theory ;
- make explicit computations in the field of QCD by resorting to the relevant mathematical formalism.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

- Non abelian gauge theories
- QCD, quarks and gluons
- Lattice QCD
- Large N limit
- Chiral symmetry

The detailed content of the course can be established in consultation with the students. In this way, any notion relating to advanced field theory deemed relevant to the students' needs can be addressed.

Prior Experience

Knowledge of relativistic quantum field theory and of Lie groups theory.
