Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of this course, students will be able to consider Indo-European languages as a whole historically and identify the main stages of their evolution. They will be able to link basic elements of the lexicon, morphosyntax and phonology of several Indo-European languages.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Introduction to the comparative study of Indo-European languages: main principles of reconstruction; elements of comparative lexicology, morphosyntax and phonology; comparison of the major roots in the different present-day languages; reflection on the phenomena of borrowing and neology in the different i.-e. languages.
