Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of this course, students will be able to
- read, analyse and understand, in their particular grammar, stylistics and lexicon, extracts from Chinese texts prior to the 19th century with a major cultural and historical significance written in classical or literary language (Confucius and the Confucian canon, Mencius, Sima Qian, Tang and Song poetry, etc.);
- to place major ancient Chinese texts in their historical and cultural context and to become familiar with the evolution of the classical language;
- to master and adequately use language and socio-cultural resources (especially intertextuality and reference games) offered by the texts studied in subsequent personal productions.

Reading and comparative (including diachronic), linguistic, stylistic and discursive analysis of classical Chinese texts.
Prior Experience
Chinese language level B2 of the CEFR.
