Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of this course, students will be able to
- appreciate the importance of the communication phenomenon as a common denominator of different practices and knowledge (mass media, new technologies, social sciences, advertising, marketing, business etc.);
- understand, in language A and language B, that "business communication" is a very broad concept encompassing all the actors in a company (customers, suppliers, service providers, administrations, all its staff);
- identify, in language A and language B, the different types of business communication (commercial communication, business communication, public communication, internal communication);
- evaluate, in language A and language B, the importance of business communication
- identify, in language A and language B, the different means and forms of communication
- apply the "Theory of communicative action" and the associated notional network;
- design appropriate communication media;
- Identify in advance communicative situations that are likely to "slip" or fall into misunderstanding;
- develop a certain sensitivity to the reactions and values shared by representatives of another culture or society.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Analysis of and commentary upon written and oral documents commonly found in the workplace (business and trading firms, trade unions, finance companies, judicial system, etc.).Written and oral communication activities such as advertising copywriting, localisation of Web pages, nonformal interpreting and community work.Written translation of texts in the field of international institutions.Synthesis and reformulation of oral messages in French, in a context of linguistic mediation.
