Prérequis

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Professional skills specific to translation in a intercultural context - Operate in a context of linguistic mediation
    • Communicate easily and appropriately in French and in the foreign language, in order to ensure a smooth and efficient mediation.
    • Interact both in the A-language and in the foreign language and contribute naturally in the common discourse.
    • Help the discussion along by confirming comprehension, seeking clarification, etc.
    • Be able to produce clear, fluent texts in the foreign language, with controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors, and cohesive devices.
    • Know the stakes of relations between nations or communities and apply this knowledge to translation.
    • Apply theoretical knowledge to deal effectively with misunderstandings and cultural conflicts.

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the second module of the master in translation, students will be able to:
- understand and analyse any written message, however complex;
- understand any native speaker as a result of being introduced to regional accents;
- interpret an issue from their mother tongue into the foreign language, considering both its formal and linguistic constraints and the listeners own linguistic skills;
- write specific and functional texts in the foreign language considering stylistic or format constraints;
- communicate efficiently in a context of interlinguistic communication.

 

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Analysis of and commentary upon written and oral documents commonly found in the workplace (business and trading firms, trade unions, finance companies, judicial system, etc.).
Written and oral communication activities such as advertising copywriting, localisation of Web pages, nonformal interpreting and community work.
Students might also be working on the basis of swedish/ norwegian texts.
