• Linguistic Skills - Apply linguistic knowledge to the practice of translation or interpretation.
• Master the French language at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
• Master the foreign languages at level C2 in reading and listening, and level C1 in writing and speaking.
• Continuously assess and maintain that linguistic knowledge.
• Transmit a message expressed in another language, orally or in writing, all the while respecting the intention, the target audience, the linguistic register and the objectives of the original language and message.
• Cultural and Intercultural Competency - Utilise intercultural knowledge in order to understand, analyse, and contextualise in the practice of translation.
• Be familiar with the political, social and cultural environment of the working language and the chosen foreign languages, as well as a sustained effort to keep abreast of all new developments in those areas.
• Be able to recognise the socio-cultural components underlying an oral or written text.

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the second module of the master in translation, students will be able to:- understand and analyse any written message, however complex;- understand any native speaker as a result of being introduced to regional accents;- interpret an issue from their mother tongue into the foreign language, considering both its formal and linguistic constraints and the listeners own linguistic skills;- write specific and functional texts in the foreign language considering stylistic or format constraints;- communicate efficiently in a context of interlinguistic communication.They will be able to:- translate in writing complex texts in the field of international institutions;- summarize or reformulate orally and in French short speeches/conversations dealing with these subjects;- with recognized knowledge of these institutions and after due documentary and terminological research.

Analysis of and commentary upon written and oral documents commonly found in the workplace (business and trading firms, trade unions, finance companies, judicial system, etc.).Written and oral communication activities such as advertising copywriting, localisation of Web pages, nonformal interpreting and community work.Written translation of texts in the field of international institutions.Synthesis and reformulation of oral messages in French, in a context of linguistic mediation.
