Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of this learning activity, students will be able to: - read and understand relatively long and complex pieces of writing, capturing subtle nuances in style and meaning, both implicit and explicit; - follow a lecture or exposé on a specialized topic using regional, familiar or idiomatic language as well as unfamiliar vocabulary; subsequently, produce a clear and succinct outline; - produce a clear, well-structured argument, oral or written, on a complex subject; - argue a point of view using secondary arguments, justifications and examples.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Critical reading and discussion of oral or written, structurally complex documents. Activities involving reception (analysis): level C2 of the Common European Framework. Activities involving production (commentary): level C1.
Prior Experience
Sufficient proficiency in the foreign language (English) that the candidate is able to understand documents (analysis) at level C2 of the Common European Framework; and produce responses at (commentary) at level C1.
