Specific skills
At the end of this course, students will be able to: - understand and translate texts; - adopt a contrastive approach to languages; - mobilize their writing skills; - evaluate paper or online documentary resources; - identify the working method to be applied; - demonstrate a good linguistic knowledge accompanied by extensive general knowledge; - render an informative text in the target language; - develop an appropriate working method for translating informative texts (pragmatic).
Cross-curricular competencies
At the end of this course, students will be able to : - prepare to translate various texts (narrative, argumentative, prescriptive, descriptive), in particular by carrying out appropriate terminological and conceptual research; - carry out activities to prepare for the use of CAT; - write a logbook listing all the stages of the translation project.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
-Theoretical component: - theoretical foundations of textual analysis and written production; - mastery of the notions specific to the reality of interlinguistic transfer; - knowledge of the limitations of bilingual dictionaries.
-Practical component: - reasoned, methodical and practical learning of general translation; - ability to use technical terms specific to the translation profession; - knowledge of the practical aspects of the profession; - ability to use dictionaries/terminology databases.
