Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course, students will be able :
- to get a global insight on how to understand European employment;
- to classify and deal with different labour market policies that can be performed in order to improve employment;
- to analyse how these policies can have an impact by either favouring firms wishes to hire workers, job search incentives from labour suppliers and the matching process between both sides of the labour market;
- to tackle the evaluation of these policies, which can further serve for policy makers;
- to deal with a particular case of employment policy

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

- Basic theoretical concepts to labour policy analysis;
- Main factors, including those under the control of policy makers and/or refering to specific labour market institutional features, to explain the empirical evidence and evolution from European employment;
- Role that labour market policies can play;
- Evaluation of their effects
- Conduct group work on a specific employment policy case and meet with the teacher to discuss the progress of their work and answer any questions

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

Students are assessed on their mastery of the concepts through a written exam (50% of total).They are then evaluated on their analysis of a particular employment policy case through a written paper and an oral presentation and defense (50% of the total).
