Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of the instruction, students will be able to better understand HR function role in companies; understand the role they can play, as future managers, in human resource management and in the implementation of HR practices; to analyse relations between HR practices and company performance; to better understand specific HR practices (such as recruitment, selection process, pay practices, motivation, ...)
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Several chapters can structur the lessons :
- one chapter defines HR management basis and goals. It also explains the roles that HR function can play in companies
- one chapter describes the contexts surrounding HR function. The influences of external contexts (economic, technology, demographic, etc.) and internal contexts (strategy, company culture, etc.) are depicted. The students are able to understand that the way HR management is implemented in companies depends on such contexts.Various HR models are also approached.
- one chapter describes HR planning, recruitment, staff selection and induction practices
- one chapter focuses on motivational theories and how to apply them in practice in organizations, on recognition and well being at work
Case studies and video are used and discussed with students.
The learning activities of this teaching unit are fully complementary and differ only in the way they are taught.
