      Content of Learning Activity

The course proposes to consider link-based urbanism and cooperation as drivers of transition, with a view to reducing the socio-spatial disparities present even within privileged countries such as Belgium. This approach aims to build positive projects for the future, anchored in local realities.
      Three pedagogical moments are proposed:
Firstly, collective group analysis of scientific writings around the concepts of (1)territory as a common good (bioregionalism, local project - Magnaghi 2003; 2014), (2)public space as a place of welcome for all forms of life and places of socialization (Carlier, Berger 2021, Klinenberg 2019) and (3) cooperation as the key to transition (Laurent 2024). This multidisciplinary approach, drawing on the fields of sociology, economics, geography, philosophy, health and, last but not least, urban planning, will lay the foundations for a systemic analysis of the field.
In a second step, these theoretical concepts will be confronted with the analysis of common spaces in a hydro-geographical sub-basin. The mapping of multiple deprivations (Otavova et al 2023) will be analyzed, and a specific mapping of public spaces, infrastructures and facilities will be established. The analysis of these elements, particularly with regard to their role in territorial solidarity, will enable us to identify issues specific to the territory observed.
Finally, by cross-referencing the analysis of ecosystem services produced in the other AA, the students will produce a roadmap for a political project to manage the slope with a view to greater social and environmental resilience.
