Content of Learning Activity
The course describes the molecular and cellular bases of cancer. It covers the following topics: cancer genetics, cell cycle, causes of cancer, classification, clinical and histological staging, tumor biology, stem cells, oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, DNA repair mechanisms, viruses, system alteration immune, environmental factors, cancer detection and diagnosis, cancer prevention and screening, and genetic testing. Cancers of the breast, head and neck, thyroid, melanoma and leukemia will be examined in detail.
