      Content of Learning Activity

The ethology course constitutes an introduction to the discipline.

The emphasis is placed on observing behaviors and their classification. Their study is part of an evolutionary approach, behaviors being a means of adaptation of species to their environment.

The theoretical part of the course is built around different axes:
      - History of the discipline
      - Study techniques
      - Categories of behavior according to their innate or learned nature
      - Triggering behaviors
      - Communication (including courtship)
      - Aggressive behaviors and ways to control them
      - Social behaviors, origins, hierarchy and social organization

The practical part includes laboratory sessions and field observation sessions. Depending on possibilities and conditions, a session can be organized in the evening.

Attendance at the course and practical sessions is mandatory.
