        Content of Learning Activity

        Written translation of non-specialized texts of variable length and style into French, with highlighting of the common translation pitfalls and of the intertextual conventions in the source and target language.
        Oral translation, exhaustive or summarized, of shorter general texts into French. 
        Introduction to revision and post-edition.
        Texts accessible at the level 5 of the HSK.
        Seminars given by external localisation experts.
        Introduction to writing a translation commentary. 
        Initiation to coding and localisation tools. 

        Theoretical part:
        - definition of the concept of "localisation";
        - definition of the notion of "general marketing" and "international marketing" (understanding the rules and environment in which texts evolve);
        - concept of copywriting (designer/editor);
        - principles of stylistics;
        - introduction to translation theory

        Practical component:
        - understanding the issues and principles of localisation;
        - use of computer tools used in localisation;
        - management of translation memories (import, export);
        - use of terminology retrieval functionalities;
        - updating of databases;
        - translation of user interface strings;
        - write a translation commentary or a localization review
