Content of Learning Activity
The first lesson will aim at introducing dubbing practices: expression rules, translation processes, concision, attention to lip movements... In this context, Chaume's (2004) essential dubbing synchronies will be described and illustrated. Translation challenges related to dubbing will be explained. During the following lessons, students will be given the opportunity to individually and collectively dub different audiovisual documents (TV shows, movies, documentaries, videogames, other documents). Students' productions will also be discussed and critically analysed during the lessons.
