Learning Outcomes of UE

The aim of this course is to acquire an in-depth vision of the importance of ecosystem services, of the different methods of monitoring and measuring biodiversity in different types of natural environments, and the interest of these methods for conservation.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

General knowledge of biodiversity and the main threats to it and its ecosystem services in the context of global change. Main indices to describe the state of a population or a community in ecosystems, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Biodiversity measurement and monitoring methods on different spatio-temporal scales. We will focus on new technologies such as remote sensing methods. The practical work will include in-depth applications of the methods seen in class, through concrete case studies in the field out of the university.
