Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Put English language skills and skills of at least one other language other than French into practice.
    • Read and understand the overall meaning of non-specialised texts, listen and understand the overall meaning of audio documents.
    • Write an information request, a summary and analysis of texts and videos, and an exchange in dialogue form.
    • Express an opinion on a subject, orally and in writing, as well as on topical issues within ideological debates, carry out an oral presentation on a topic related to the specialised field.

Learning Outcomes of UE

Developing some communicative ability necessary to face situations which call for the use of English as follows: understanding and taking part in conversations on simple matters; reading and understanding the overall meaning of texts at level B2; listening to and understanding conversations at level B1+.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Revising the basic structures of the English language; Developing some communicative ability by calling upon the four language skills; Reading and commenting on texts, news articles, videos and conversations in general English; at level A2+ or B1 or higher.

Prior Experience

Knowledge of the basic grammar structures and vocabulary of the English language is an advantage.

Students with no knowledge of English are strongly encouraged to sign up to the remedial classes at the beginning of the year.

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

Written or online exam on the content seen during term 1: 50% of the final grade of the module

2 exemption tests will be organised during the first semester. 
Explanations regarding the tests will be given in class.
