Prérequis

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Communicate in a structured way - both orally and in writing, in French and English - giving clear, accurate, reasoned information
    • Use several methods of written and graphic communication: text, tables, equations, sketches, maps, graphs, etc.
    • Give an effective oral presentation, using presentation materials appropriately
    • Use the English language to "advanced independent user" level, equivalent to B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and independence throughout their studies
    • Develop their scientific curiosity and open-mindedness
    • Learn to use various resources made available to inform and train independently

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this unit, students will have developed their scientific communication skills, in listening and reading comprehension, and oral and written expression.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Listening comprehension practice using authentic material on scientific subjects.
Development and reinforcement of the vocabulary and grammar structures relevant to scientific communication: description of objects, processes, and graphs and other common visuals, comparison, cause and consequence, etc.
Techniques and practice of professional presentations. 
Writing an abstract and bibliographic references.
