Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
Introduce the basics of telecommunication systems, both older and current ones. Acquire a mathematical background in signal processing and related topics that prepares students for advanced-level telecommunication classes.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Introduction to communication chains. Probability theory. Integral transforms of continuous-time signals. Stochastic processes in telecommunications. Modulation. Demodulation and digital receivers. Analysis of discrete-time signals. Phase-locked loops. Electronic architecture of transceivers. Introduction to synchronization.
Prior Experience
Course "Electricité, signaux et systèmes". Ideally, "Probabilités et statistiques".

| I-ULBC-019 | Written exam in two parts: a closed-book one and an open-book one. The closed-book part focuses on fundamental theoretical concepts and developments as well as on standard methodologies, whereas the open-book part features deeper questions that require more complex thinking. A document of useful formulas will be given to the students for the closed-book part (it is written by the teacher and will be made available to the students prior to the "blocus" time frame). A project report is also part of the evaluation. |

| I-ULBC-019 | The teacher picks one of the following two options: - A written exam similar to the one of Q1 - An oral exam (with closed book and open book parts, which is similar to the written exam). The project report is also part of the evaluation. |
