Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand, describe, analyse and prioritise biological phenomena
    • Understand basic scientific knowledge and be able to use it
    • Understand and use different graphical representations of numerical values and their relationships
  • Control the molecular, morphological and functional approaches of normal and pathological conditions
    • Integrate concepts from different approaches/disciplines in a complex biomedical problem
  • Demonstrate developed interpersonal skills
    • Work in a team
    • Share knowledge and information
    • Submit reviews, reports and give oral presentations
  • Manage resources
    • Use basic IT and bibliographic resources.
  • Manage their studies
    • Locate scientific information efficiently
    • Compare different sources of information
    • Read, interpret, and critique a scientific article

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this UE , students will be able to integrate basic chemical, biological and physical concepts and use them to understand complex physiological processes. The functioning and physiological roles of membrane transporters and the mechanisms of cell differentiation will be used as examples, notably through analysis of different sources of scientific information.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

The Teaching Unit comprises two "AA":
M-PHPH-110 - Study of the role of membrane transporters
M-BHTO-102 - Study of cell differentiation mechanisms

Through this two fields corresponding to the 2 AAs, physiology will be approached in an integrated way, from the molecule to the cell, towards system function. Students will be led to mobilize their knowledge of the basic sciences (chemistry, physics, biology), and to carry out research and analysis of scientific documents to understand these complex physiological processes.

Prior Experience

Basic chemistry, biology and physics.
