Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this course, students will be capable to
- use in context basic English grammar notions; 
- extract information from science-oriented English texts;
- to communicate in English, in writing and orally, on (biomedical) science-related topics;
- work autonomously on audio documents (B1 level);
- build vocabulary linked to science;
- put into practice the basic rules of English pronunciation;
- create science-oriented works linked to their field of study.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

- Revision of English grammar, 
- Learning vocabulary common to biomedical sciences (academic and scientific phraseology)
- Individual work
- Document analysis (popularized articles, videos, audios),
- Introduction to pronunciation and to written and oral communication, 
- Science-oriented assignments and project

Q1 UE Assessment Comments

Written tests (grammar & vocabulary)

1 grammar and vocabulary exemption test will take place during term 1. If you get 12/20 or above in grammar or vocabulary, you will get an exemption for that part.  If you get less than 12/20 for either of these parts, you must take the exams during the session. 

You are required to attend at least 60% of the lessons in order to be allowed to take the exemption test.

* If there is not enough time during the year, if there are too many students to assess or for any other pedagogical reason duly justified by the teacher, the latter reserves the right to place the final oral presentation in the June session. Students will be informed if this is the case.
