Learning Outcomes of UE

The course on Pathology Essentials offers essential learning outcomes in the field of health. Students will gain a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of health education. They will be able to recognize hypertension and cardiovascular risk factors, as well as understand cardiac rhythm disorders and thromboembolic diseases. The symptoms of myocardial infarction and heart failure will also be identifiable.Regarding the respiratory system, students will be able to identify major pulmonary pathologies, understand respiratory insufficiency and pulmonary edema, and recognize different forms of bronchitis, pneumonia, and COPD. They will also be able to identify symptoms of asthma and other respiratory conditions. The course will also cover the digestive system, enabling students to understand gastroesophageal reflux, esophagitis, causes of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, as well as inflammatory diseases of the digestive tract. They will identify major liver pathologies, including cirrhosis, as well as pancreatic and biliary diseases.Students will acquire knowledge about kidney function and be able to recognize chronic kidney disease and acute renal failure. The endocrine system will also be studied, including an understanding of diabetes and its complications, diabetes insipidus, SIADH, growth hormone, thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, and Cushing's syndrome.Regarding the nervous system, students will be able to recognize migraines, headaches, epilepsy, stroke, meningitis, dementia, and multiple sclerosis. The course will also cover osteoarticular conditions, explaining osteoporosis, various types of arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. The course will address elements of ophthalmology and dermatology, enabling students to recognize common skin lesions, understand psoriasis, eczema, dermatophytosis, alopecia, urticaria, and burns. Causes of red eyes, glaucoma, and decreased visual acuity will also be studied. Finally, specific characteristics of elderly patients will be discussed, with recognition of the need for coordinated care for this population. This comprehensive course provides a solid foundation of knowledge in pathology, essential for understanding and addressing various medical conditions.
