Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
The students will be familiarized with the modern methodology used to discover active pharmacological compounds, with a focus on the phage display technology which is a fundamental scientific tool of the Molecular Imaging Laboratory (Department of General, Organic and Biomedical Chemistry) of the University of Mons. The applications in the field of therapeutics and particularly in that of medical molecular imaging will be developed.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
The course will be scheduled according to the following major plan:
- definition of biomarkers and presentation of the identification methodology;
- definition of the targeted molecular ligand;
- presentation of the high throughput screening methodology used in the discovery of the active pharmaceutical compounds;
- presentation of the methodology used to validate the active pharmaceutical compounds;
- the exigencies and advantages of the in vivo molecular imaging;
- molecular imaging of the cardiovascular system;
- molecular imaging of the nervous system;
- imaging of the liver function;
- molecular imaging of the renal function;
- cancer imaging
