Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the learning activity, the student will be able to propose and apply first aid gestures and actions aimed at ensuring the integrity of an individual in an emergency situation while waiting for the intervention of the means of rescue.

- In an emergency situation, ensure the safety and protection of the rescuer, the victim or any individual in order to avoid an accident.
- In an emergency situation, alert the appropriate emergency resources on the basis of a collection of relevant information and observations.
- In an emergency situation, recognize the signs of distress (including cardiorespiratory arrest) in adults and children and apply the appropriate rescue actions and gestures.
- In an emergency situation, apply the guidelines and/or recommendations for good practice according to the context encountered.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

This learning activity aims to lead students of the Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences to react appropriately to an individual in an emergency situation, whether in the context of their professional practice or in everyday life. Being confronted with an emergency situation destabilizes, frightens and it can seem complicated to apply appropriate actions. On the one hand, for everyone, helping an individual in distress is an exercise in responsible citizenship. On the other hand, each health professional must be able to propose and apply emergency actions while waiting for the intervention of appropriate means. Through contextualized approaches (scenarios of emergency situations in pharmacies, practical sessions, etc.), the learning activity aims to achieve the objectives described above.

- Approach concepts, frameworks, contexts and guidelines
- Application of guidelines and first aid gestures: approach by demonstrations, detailed sequences, reproduction of practical exercises and training of gestures.
- Contextualized practical approach and emergency situations (in the teaching pharmacy)
