Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes of UE

•Define the place and importance of cell culture in the research and development of new therapies
•Describe the basic concepts and techniques of in vitro cell culture through a theoretical and practical approach
•Describe the most used tests in terms of evaluating the toxicity of potential therapeutic candidates
• Putting into practice the notions integrated in the theory through student labs

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

The aim of this course is for the participants to acquire the theoric and practical bases relating to eukaryote cells culturing and to cytotoxic bioassays. The theory part will consist in learning about the work environment and the constraints of working in a cell culture room (security levels, sterility, cleanroom, etc.), the various cell lines (primary, immortalized), the multiple culture media that exist and the principles of basic bioassays (important tool for the discovery of new therapeutic candidates). This course will include innovative learning tools (interactive work support) and will be completed by student labs taking place in a cell culture room.
