Learning Outcomes of UE

The learning outcomes are those required for recognition of the legal training of "Maître d'expérience", corresponding in the Belgian law to the FELASA Category C -persons responsible for directing animal experiments.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Legal and ethical aspects, refinement and alternatives to animal use; biology of the laboratory animals (taxonomy, anatomy, physiology, ethology, nutrition, husbandry); genetics and reproduction (cloning and transgenesis included); microbiology and animal disease; health hazards and safe practices, euthanasia, autopsy and waste management. Design and conduct of animal experiments.

Prior Experience

Completion of a full university degree.
