Programme component

Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the theoretical and methodological fundamentals in psychology, educational sciences and language sciences to analyse a particular situation involving speech therapy
    • Identify and explain the concepts, principles, and models of basic theoretical approaches in psychology, educational sciences and language sciences and their applications
    • Identify and describe the biological, medical and socio-cultural foundations of human behaviour
    • Explain and illustrate, with examples, human functioning, particularly in its pathological dimensions
    • Describe the main methodological approaches (goals, methods, techniques and tools) to understand and explain the functioning of individuals and groups
  • Provide clear, accurate, and reasoned information
    • Provide information (both orally and in writing) regarding the fields of psychology, educational sciences and language sciences in an intelligible manner, with a good command of communication techniques.
  • Grow personally and professionally
    • Understand the various means available for documentation, to promote self-learning and lifelong learning
  • Understand, describe and analyse the French language
    • Describe and analyse language systems with regard to phonetics, phonemes, morphology, vocabulary, syntax and register

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of the teaching, the student will be able:
- to describe the sounds of the French language, replacing them within the system they come from.
- to describe speech sounds by using diverse techniques (API transcription, acoustic analyses by means of diverse analysis techniques of which Praat) and representations, by replacing them within the framework of the system from which they come, in endolingue and exolingue situation, and in pathological context or not.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

"Phonetics and phonology": Exhaustive description of the French phonic system, from the phonologic as well as from the phonetic viewpoint
"Speech Signal Analysis": Laboratory works having for objective to bring the student into contact of speech sounds. Application of diverse techniques of acoustic / phonetic analyses allowing a fine description of the sound phenomena constituting the connected speech.

The "Phonetics and Phonology" AA establishes the theoretical, methodological and conceptual bases. The "Speech Signal Analysis" AA offers a set of works allowing to put these notions into practice.
