Realization of a scientific watch allowing the communication around theoretical notions related to speech therapy sciences.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

The course will consist of several activities:

- the presentation of theoretical elements related to the main oral language pathologies, including: developmental language disorders (language disorder, speech sound disorders); the specificities of language development in the context of hearing impairments; and acquired disorders affecting either the peripheral aspects of language (dysarthria) or the central aspects (aphasia, apraxia);
- an introduction to the epistemological aspects of research in the field of speech and language therapy, through participation in seminars presenting diverse studies in the speech and language sciences, as well as the possibility of attending external scientific events organized by professional bodies in speech and language therapy—subject to feasibility depending on practical and logistical arrangements;
- a group project on a case study related to one of the topics addressed. This project will include the analysis of data provided by the teaching team (audio recordings), the completion of test administration protocols, a descriptive analysis of the patient’s profile in terms of symptomatology and diagnostic hypotheses, and a discussion of the results in relation to recent scientific literature. Students will also be asked to design one or more assessment tasks targeting a specific language aspect to be further explored based on their observations, as well as to propose remediation strategies supported by the literature.
