Learning Outcomes of UE

By the end of the course, students will have acquired the theoretical foundations necessary to recognize and understand the main sensory impairments. They will be informed of their potential cognitive, linguistic, and psychological consequences. They will also be familiar with the main current approaches to care and will be aware of the importance of a multidisciplinary approach.

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

This course is part of the curriculum for third-cycle students in the bachelor's degree program in speech therapy and is also offered as an option to students in the master's degree program in specialized psychological sciences. The aim of the course is to raise students' awareness of the neurocognitive, linguistic, and psychological aspects associated with the most common sensory impairments, namely hearing and visual impairments. In this context, the course will be designed to provide an in-depth understanding of sensory impairments, particularly hearing, vestibular, and visual impairments, addressing both theoretical and applied aspects. Aimed at students completing their bachelor's degree in speech therapy, but also potentially at master's students in psychological sciences, emphasis will be placed on the multidisciplinary aspects necessary for optimal support of people with sensory impairments.
