Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of this course students will be able to understand and visualize theroticaly and experimentaly relationshipsof the structure-activity relationships of the four
families of biological macromolecules in their natural environment, the aqueous phase. Theoritical and practical aspects
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Theoritical and practical aspects of Structural biochemistry
The fundamental components of living matter. Basic evolution.
Water : structure and function.
Noncovalent interactions : H-bond, hydrophobic interactions, ionic bonds, Van der Waals attractions.
Structure-activity relationships of biological macromolecules :
polypeptides
polynucleotides
polysaccharides
lipids.
Prior Experience
Notion of Biology (bloc1), chemistry (bloc1) and mathematics (bloc1)
Type(s) and mode(s) of Q1 UE assessment
Q1 UE Assessment Comments
The student assessment takes into account both the knowledge and reasoning .
The reports of practical work are also included in the final assessment to the course up to 20%. Work practices are required for this course. The final mark which will be given to the student will take into account both the oral examination relating to the theoretical course and the evaluation of the practical work.
Method of calculating the overall mark for the Q1 UE assessment
The assessment is mainly based on the oral exam.
