Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of the instruction, the students will be able to :
- understand and apply the basis principles of classical physics and of quantum theory
- develop the theory from observations in a logical and rigorous way
- establish logical links between the first year instructions and the more advanced and more specific courses of the second year
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
- Wave physics (oscillators, mechanical waves, sound waves, electromagnetic waves, wave optics)
- Frontiers of the classical physics : main experiments
- Classical light sources (dipoles, Maxwell's equations in vaccuum, Hertz's dipole)
- LASER light
- Wave behaviour of matter
- Introduction to quantum mechanics: Schrodinger equation and barriers and potential steps
