Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
The general objective of this course is to understand and describe the macroscopic properties of matter starting from the laws describing its microscopic constituents (atoms, molecules).
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
This unit consists of a learning activity called statistical physics which consists of theorectical classes and exercice classes. The program will consist of: foundations of Statistical Physics; equilibrium statistical ensembles (microcanonical, canonical, grand-canonical); the concept of entropy; ideal gases of atoms and molecules; ideal quantum gases of bosons and fermions; introduction to phase transitions and irreversible processes.
