Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
By the end of this course students should be able to read and understand texts or recordings at B2 level relevant to their field of specialisation. They should be able to analyse the key arguments in these sources.
They should also be able to :
* express in English an opinion, both orally and in writing, on a topical or computer science-related subject;
* discuss and argue on a topical or computer science-related subject;
* learn to exchange and listen to ideas;
* be able to reformulate them without distorting them at a B2 level (clear and standard language/key points).
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
This is a 30-hour course divided into:
- a 3-hour exemption test in Charleroi
- 18 hours of face-to-face classes in Charleroi
- 9 hours of regular assignments and tests
The course is based on:
- structural exercises (grammar / vocabulary)
- texts related to computer science
- listening comprehension (audio and video)
- oral and written exercises
- through the use of IT tools (Moodle, teams, e-learning platforms and sites) individually or in teams
The course will be mainly delivered face-to-face, and regular assignments and tests will form part of the continuous assessment.

| V-LANG-661 | The evaluation includes: • 10% = class attendance (ACTIVE!) = attend all classes and participate in group work. This is not remediable. • 30% = Offline assignments (including Moodle self-study, and homework (text, presentation, etc.)). This is not remediable. • 60% = Final assessment (speaking, writing, reading and listening) If the student passes the pre-course test (13/20), he/she gets dispensation from the said course. The mark given on the pre-course test will be converted to meet the level of the final examination/ evaluation, as productive skills cannot be extensively tested. Students will be tested on: - listening and reading skills - knowledge and use of grammar and vocabulary - speaking skills |

| V-LANG-661 | The material will be the same as in the first session. It will consist of a final evaluation (reading, writing, listening and speaking) that will count for 60% of the final grade. Note: the 10% for attendance and the 30% for continuous assessment are not subject for remediation. The student will therefore keep the grades obtained during the first session for those two components. |
