Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • In the field of biological sciences and particularly in the field of the biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, possess highly specialised and integrated knowledge and a wide range of skills adding to those covered in the Bachelor's programme in biological sciences.
  • Conduct extensive research and development projects related to biological sciences, in biochemistry and in molecular and cell biology.
    • Apply, mobilise, articulate and promote the knowledge and skills acquired in order to help lead and complete a project.
    • Show initiative and be able to work independently and in teams.
  • Manage and lead research, development and innovation projects.
    • Methodically research valid scientific information, critically analyse, propose and argue potentially innovative solutions to targeted problems.
  • Master communication techniques.
    • Communicate, both orally and in writing, their findings, original proposals, knowledge and underlying principles, in a clear, structured and justified manner.
  • Apply scientific methodology.
    • Demonstrate thoroughness, independence, creativity, intellectual honesty, and ethical values.

Learning Outcomes of UE

At the end of this EU, the students will have learned and used several cellular and molecular biology techniques :
- cell lines growth and transient transfection of siRNA;
- RNA extraction;
- high-resolution denaturing agarose gel;
- RNA transfer on membrane;
- RNA hybridization using specific radioactive probes and revelation of ribosomal RNA precursors

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Students will actively participate in research conducted in the laboratory. It will analyse the effect of the mutation of genes on the formation of ribosomal RNA by northern-blot technique.
The number of places for this integrated practical work being limited (6 max.), priority will be given to students who selected the complements of cell biology course in their PAE.
