Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes of UE
To get used to scientific communication in English. Students deliver an oral presentation in English about ongoing results in their Master dissertation or an internship (10min of presentation with PowerPoint-like visual aid, followed by a 5min questions/answers session questions between the audience consisting of an extended Master's jury (*) and the student). The symposium is open to the public and thus accessible to other Master or Bachelor students.
(*) Assessors from research units in biology, FMPB or FPMs (lecturers, scientists, post-docs, voluntary collaborators)
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

Prior Experience
A B2 level in English is advised.

Students will be assessed on: A. quality of the communication and the accuracy of their scientific English by a team of English lecturers, B. clarity and scientific relevance of the performance by the extended Master's jury. The final mark is averaged as follows: 50% A + 50% B. Students who attend at least 60% of the sessions are granted a bonus point (linked only to the English mark out of 20). |
