Objectives of Programme's Learning Outcomes

  • Skill 2: Have acquired professional skills in relation to the objective defining the degree.
    • Specialise in at least one sub-domain of the biology of organisms and ecology.
    • Learn about scientific research and the world of research.
    • Integrate into an inter-university environment and conduct scientific collaborations.
  • In the field of biological sciences and particularly in the field of the biology of organisms and ecology, possess highly specialised and integrated knowledge and a wide range of skills adding to those covered in the Bachelor's programme in biological sciences.
  • Master communication techniques.
    • Communicate, both orally and in writing, their findings, original proposals, knowledge and underlying principles, in a clear, structured and justified manner.
    • Adapt their communication to a variety of audiences.
    • Master the techniques of written and oral scientific communication in both French and English.
  • Apply scientific methodology.
    • Critically reflect on the impact of their discipline in general, and on the contribution to projects.
    • Demonstrate thoroughness, independence, creativity, intellectual honesty, and ethical values.

Learning Outcomes of UE

The course aims to detail aspects of bird biology, including identification by song, visual identification and many aspects of bird ecology. A field trip outside the university will be organised. 
 

UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance

(1) Introduction to bird classification; (2) Visual identification of common European birds; (3) Auditory identification of common Belgian birds; (4) Migration; (5) Evolutionary history; (6) Conservation biology
