UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
Innovation is a concept that has many dimensions, all of which include the idea of novelty, progress (new technologies, new products, new organizations, ...) but also the creation and reallocation of value and wealth (for shareholders? for society? for citizens? ...).The course proposes an overview of these multiple facets, clarifies the differences between innovation, research, creativity, inventiveness, etc... It focuses on the innovation process in companies, sheds light on the issues related to major societal challenges and sustainable development (e.g. ecological transition, digital transition) and how technologies can either provide solutions or negatively affect the lives of citizens, without forgetting gender issues in innovation. The aim of the course is to provide science students with the basic concepts to equip them to take a critical look at the (mainly technological) evolution of our societies. At the moment, the lecture is supported by slides, complemented with some audio or video material.

Conclusion
The examination will be divided into two parts, both of which are oriented towards an exchange of views. On the one hand, on a book chosen from a list of references (summary, why this choice, what lessons, consequences or actions to draw from it) such as for example "Le développement non durable", "maîtriser le progrès économique et technique" published by the Académie de Poche. On the other hand on a personal reflection linked to the near future of the student and based on some questions listed below or one or the other question that the student would like to be asked. The idea is to mobilise the notions that we have covered in the course.
Question 1: Let's suppose that, after graduation, you have the choice between different employers
- What values would attract you to one company or administration rather than another?
Question 2 :Let's assume that, after graduation, you have found a job, either in a company or an administration for example, or as an entrepreneur
- What action would you like your employer to take to address major societal challenges (climate change, energy problems, loss of biodiversity, etc.)?
- What action would you like to take yourself? Do you think it would respond to major societal challenges (climate change, energy problems, loss of biodiversity, etc.)? If not, what should be done?
Question 3 : Is all innovation Progress?
