Learning Outcomes of UE
At the end of this course, students will be able to :
Identify the different sources of financing adapted to entrepreneurial companies.
Understand the logic and criteria of financiers (banks, investors, crowdfunding platforms, etc.).
Discuss how financing choices influence the company's trajectory and possible exit scenarios, including success, investor withdrawal or bankruptcy.
Use a critical, structured and well-argued approach to make a financial diagnosis from an entrepreneurial perspective.
UE Content: description and pedagogical relevance
This course offers a progressive, contextualized exploration of entrepreneurial finance, taking into account the specificities of companies in the creation, growth or transformation phase. It begins by putting financial needs into perspective according to the different stages of entrepreneurial development, in order to better understand how entrepreneurial finance differs from traditional corporate finance.
The course then looks at the main families of financing solutions available to entrepreneurs, both traditional and more recent. Students are encouraged to compare different options, understand the expectations of the main financial players, and reflect on the impact of these choices on the company's development.
By integrating case studies, students are encouraged to reflect on the coherence of a financing strategy with a given entrepreneurial project. Valuation methods are discussed, to learn how to assess the value of the company, in relation to exit strategies. The course also deals with investor expectations and the various possible outcomes of the entrepreneurial journey, including success, resale or bankruptcy.
This course is the first part of an entrepreneurial finance course, spread over two modules of 21 hours each. Topics not covered in this module will be covered in Entrepreneurial Finance 2, taught the following year.
The learning activities are fully complementary and differ only in the way they are taught.
